Optical scale aids submicron precision

For many industrial applications in research and quality control, the measurement of components with submicron precision can best be accomplished through a microscope with optical linear scales

Olympus STM6 microscopes are specifically designed for microscopic measurement. The new range includes six different systems of motorised three-axis microscopes providing measurement readout down to 0.1um. For x-y measurement, features include an optical edge sensor with linear and rotatable stages from 50 x 50 to 250 x 150mm in size to accommodate different samples.

For the first time, the introduction of motorised focusing to this type of microscope allows rapid and precise z-axis measurement.

Autofocusing allows a surface of variable height to be followed.

There is no need for parallel alignment of the sample so that measurement can commence immediately.
